Can I receive ORU Scholarships for online classes?

Print Friendly

No. Online courses are not eligible for ORU scholarships or grants.

What type of aid is available for Distance Learning?

Print Friendly

ORU participates in Federal financial aid programs. Distance Learning students are eligible for Direct Subsidized and Unsubsidized Loans as well as the Pell Grant. Dependent students may be offered the Direct PLUS loan, a credit-based loan for parents.

I have been admitted to the Distance Learning Campus but do not have a financial aid package yet. Why am I not packaged?

Print Friendly

There are several reasons why you may not be packaged:

*You must be enrolled in your online courses in order to be packaged with Financial Aid.

* You must submit an official FAFSA in order to be package with Financial Aid

* You may have reached your borrowing limit with federal loans or your maximum allowable Pell Grant

If these criteria do not apply to you and you would like to request a financial aid award package, you may email orufinaid@oru.edu and request to be packaged for financial aid.

Can Distance Learning students participate in Work Study?

Print Friendly

No. The Work Study program is reserved for full time on campus students only.

I am considering dropping the 2nd session of Distance Learning courses. Will this change my financial aid?

Print Friendly

Yes. Distance Learning Campus students are packaged for the exact number of credit hours enrolled each semester. Any little change to your enrollment may cause a change in your loans or Pell Grant, which could cause you to owe a balance to the University. Even if you complete the first Distance Learning session of a semester, dropping the second session is considered a withdrawal from the semester. This could cause funding you received in the first session to be reduced. If you drop courses without replacing them, please notify us immediately at orufinaid@oru.edu.
