Book Allowance

How much can I receive for a book allowance?

Print Friendly

Your financial aid budget includes $840 per semester for books and supplies. If you have been awarded (and have accepted) grants/loans in excess of your ORU tuition, room, and board charges your book allowance will show up in Vision as a projected refund. You may then transfer these funds to Follett or Eagle bucks (your ID card) in Vision. If you do not wish to purchase your books through the ORU Bookstore, you may wait for funds to disburse and receive a refund of any excess funding to reimburse you for outside purchases.

How do I buy my books?

You can purchase your textbooks through our campus bookstore, University Store at ORU, at www.oru.bkstr.com. The offer new, used, rental and digital options for your course materials. If you need to use your financial aid to purchase your books, then you can convert excess financial aid funds towards “Eagle” or “Follett” Bucks. Eagle Bucks allow you to make purchases in the bookstore, as well as eateries on and around campus. Follett Bucks are only good at the bookstore. Once funds are transferred, they are non-refundable, but do rollover from semester to semester. Excess funds can be transferred at Student Accounts at anytime or at vision.oru.edu during the months of August and January.

What if I don’t use my entire allowance of Eagle/Follett Bucks?

Eagle Bucks and Follett Bucks rollover from semester to semester. If you have loans, you can choose to have the money returned to the lender. You would have to submit a request in writing or via e-mail, and if it’s a PLUS loan, then your parent will need to request the cancellation.
